Parody on Trees

I thought that I would never see
Our nation steeped in tragedy.

With leaders who, self-possessed
Mask their stain on nation’s breast.

Who sacrilegiously claimed one day
God’s indulgence for their foul affray.

Then drape themselves in flags to wear
Thus feigning a patriotic air.

Now every day a trooper’s slain
With a bitter hint, “he died in vain.”

Parodies made by fools like me,
Ask, if there is a God, how can this be?
